Skilled Worker Visa

Replacing the former Tier 2 visas, the Skilled Worker visa facilitates individuals to come to the UK for specific roles meeting certain skill and salary criteria, sponsored by employers licensed by the Home Office.

Key requirements for a Skilled Worker visa include:

  • Being aged 18 or above
  • Holding a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the intended job
  • Securing a genuine job offer at an appropriate skill level
  • Receiving a salary meeting or exceeding specified thresholds
  • Ensuring sponsorship entails payment of the Immigration Skills Charge
  • Demonstrating English language proficiency to at least CEFR Level B1
  • Showing financial independence without relying on public funds
  • Providing necessary certificates (e.g., criminal record, TB) as required

Successful applicants granted an Adult Dependent Relative visa obtain indefinite leave to enter the UK, allowing them to stay permanently.

In case of ADR visa refusal, obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship from a Home Office licensed company poses a significant challenge. The sponsoring company must be “A-Rated,” and visa application should be made within three months of acquiring the Certificate. Additionally, meeting English language requirements is imperative.

The Skilled Worker visa pathway leads to settlement, making applicants eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and subsequently British nationality after five years. Dependents may also accompany the applicant, subject to eligibility.
